Keg or Homebrew?

Most of the beer consumed in the world is keg beer, meaning it is served from a pressurised keg. Keg beer is often filtered, a process which removes any yeast from the liquid. It is also often pasteurised to destroy yeast or other microorganisms that might affect the flavor of the beer.

Draught beer refers to beer that is served from any large container. This may include kegs and casks, but unlike keg beer, does not necessarily mean that the beer has been pressurised and pasteurised.

By brewing your own beer at home, you can create a live, unpasteurised beer, much like the ones created by brewpubs. Home-brewing also allows you decide how much alcohol is in the beer, from very low amounts to very high. Homebrewing also gives you control over the ethanol content, which relates to the sugar content, and thus the calories, in the beer.
